Mount Cook Village
Mount Cook Village is a tiny alpine settlement with an outsized sense of wonder — a place where the Southern Alps rise sharply from the valley floor, glaciers carve their way through ancient rock, and the night sky glows with some of the clearest stars on Earth. Set within Aoraki / Mount Cook National Park, the village is the perfect base for exploring New Zealand’s most dramatic mountain landscapes. Tucked into the Hooker Valley, the village sits in the shadow of Aoraki / Mount Cook, the country’s tallest mountain. The scenery is immediate and overwhelming: jagged peaks, sweeping valleys, and the constant presence of ice and snow, even in summer. Every direction feels like a postcard.
